Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Posted by York Fine Arts / Wednesday 25th of March, 2020

As our community joins those around the world coping with the challenge of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Colomb Art Gallery would like to reassure our clients and staff by addressing the issue and identifying the steps we are taking to keep people safe, happy and healthy, all while delivering the highest standards of service.

As a family business, the welfare of our community, clients, staff and their families is our highest priority. As such, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend all London private appointments and home viewings. Our website and online ordering system will remain live and open for business, so you may continue to browse and buy from our website.

Our staff are working very hard to take necessary precautions and adapt our services so we may continue to deliver the joy of fine art and the highest standards of client care throughout this period of uncertainty. We have outlined these changes here:

All communication channels remain open, including email and telephone lines, which have been temporarily diverted to accommodate safe home working for our staff. All business operations are now being managed by our York headquarters, York Fine Arts. So should you wish to get in touch, please telephone our York gallery on 01904 634221 or email

Home Viewings

The gallery has now temporarily suspended its home viewing service. Should you wish to reserve a painting for a future home viewing, please contact the gallery.

While hand deliveries have now been temporarily suspended, postal deliveries for purchases from our website are still available. However, please note that while we will do our very best to deliver purchases as soon as possible, delivery times may be slightly longer than those stated on our website. But as always, a member of staff will be in touch to provide tracking details once the parcel has been booked for collection so you may monitor the progress of the shipment.

The gallery has temporarily suspended its restoration service. Artwork currently with our restorer will continue to be restored, but we regret that we are unable to accept new artwork at this time.

Should you wish to receive a free, no-obligation quote for a future restoration, these may now be provided by email from a series of specified photographs. Please contact the gallery for more information.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation as it develops and follow government advice to ensure we protect our clients and staff and take care of each other when we need it most. Should any additional changes not outlined above occur, we will update this page.

We thank you for your continued support at this time. If you have any questions or would like any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact a member of staff.
