Rob Matheson

Rob Matheson was born in Maidstone, England in 1951. He was educated at Epsom College and studied photography at Medway College of Art. He has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in London and Spain, where he now lives. During many years in commercial photography, constantly looking for a suitable, interesting and involving way of using photography, just occasionally found, he moved towards a more personal use of the medium. This generally meant studies of forms in Nature, mainly, though not exclusively in black and white. His more recent work, in contrast to his previous ethereal and tranquil images, will often appear more unsettling - expressing thoughts and feelings more usually hidden or repressed.
