Matthew Lindop
British artist. (b.1978)
Matthew graduated from the University of the West of England in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art. The urban landscape forms the inspiration for Matthew’s paintings. He has a passion for architecture, buildings and structure; their overall size and design can be both awesome and humbling. Matthew is inspired to paint a specific building or view through his experience of wandering around cities. The majority of his paintings are centred on London, this is due to his fondness for the city which is also his home.
Buildings are composed of defined lines, which is reflected in Matthew’s work. He paints using flat colours and hard edges using household gloss paints, giving the work a vibrant, polished, shiny and crisp appearance. Matthew likes to work on a large scale which he feels increases the importance and stature of a painting.
Matthew has successfully completed several prominent commissions including ones for The National Health Service, British Telecom and Esquire Magazine. He has also completed several corporate commissions including one for a top London Insurance company and another for a global Hedge Fund Managers headquarters. The Professional Footballers’ Association and Transport for London have also purchased Matthew’s work.
