Ewen Macaulay
Cityscapes / Landscapes
(b.1973, Ashford, Kent, England)
Ewen Macaulay is a self taught artist with a graphic design academic background, studying at The London College of Printing, West Kent College, and the University of Greenwich. He has worked in the design industry for 12 years as both a digital and print designer.
His preferred medium is acrylic combined with acrylic inks, and occasionally uses watercolour with inks.
Ewen recently had his first solo exhibition (April 2012) 'A Modest View' which was an exploration his love of architecture, cities and life.
He often works on large hand-made canvases, creating work that reflects the energy, passion and movement in his natural style of painting. The London cityscape is often the subject of his work, providing the chaos, vibrance and rich architecture that his technique thrives on, drawing influence from the illustrations of Ralph Steadman.
The Colomb Art Gallery is proud to exhibit a number of paintings
