Damir Muratov (b.1967) Tobolsk, Russia

Damir Muratov was born into a Siberian Tatar family in Tobolsk, Russia in 1967. In 1984 he moved to Omsk where he became an active member of the city’s artistic life, graduating from Omsk State Pedagogical University with a degree in fine art and graphics in 1998.
Damir does not tie himself down to one artistic medium or technique; he works with paintings, graphics and objects and is, in a good sense of the word, unpredictable. He is like a traveller who is always moving from one place to another, although his journeys are virtual and take place within his studio. Each work takes him to a new place outside the bounds of conventional geography. They convey different cultural codes and are his “travel notes” reflecting his experiences and attempting to make a bridge with the fast-paced modern world. In his own words, he is “trying to see his own reflection in a windowpane filled with the bright lights of the world.”
Muratov’s work has been featured in a series of solo gallery and museum exhibitions in Russia and can be found in several private and museum collections in Russia and Europe.

Damir Muratov's artworks will be available at the 'Ultra' exhibition. |
