"The painting features "The Remarkable Dissappearing and Reappearing Maudeline Spacks."
Maudeline Spacks is a famous vanishing artist who went missing forever, mid-way through a performance. She vanished and never re-appeared. This painting depicts her just after she has vanished, falling through an interstice. The moth flying past her is meant to symbolise a sense of transformation.
The idea of a vanishing artist who vanishes forever is a bit like a Schrödinger's cat- in that she is both alive and dead at the same time, therefore in a constant state of transformation."
