These deceptively placid looking hippos were seen at the banks of the Chobe River in Northern Botswana. The nearest individual is a female and the one behind is her offspring. Shortly afterwards the mother took exception to our presence, plunging in the river and chasing our boat. The speed she travelled was frightening and we were lucky to escape.
